Unity in Prayer

caroldpln.jpgTwenty-five representatives from 12 denominations gathered in Orlando, FL, January 23-25 for the 23rd annual Denominational Prayer Leaders Network meetings. Launched in 1989 by Dr. Alvin VanderGriend (Christian Reformed Church) and Dr. Henry Blackaby (Southern Baptist Convention), the group gathers together each year to “talk shop,” encourage and pray for each other. Reports are given by each represented denomination that present what new prayer initiatives or activities are happening within their group. Resources are often shared, usually with the understanding that the resource can be tweaked for another group. The highlight of each report is when the other leaders gather around and pray for each denomination rep and their denomination. The DPLN is an official cosponsor of Prayer Connect magazine. As such, publisher Jon Graf gave a report on the status of Prayer Connect, focused mainly on its launch and on ways the denominational leaders can promote the magazine within their groups. Editor Carol Madison also attended, both representing  Prayer Connect, but also as the rep for Converge Worldwide (formerly Baptist General Conference). A highlight for Prayer Connect was when the group prayed for the rapid growth of this needed resource in the prayer movement. The pictures are of Jon and Caroljondpln.jpg being prayed for. Carol is being prayed for by representatives of the Assemblies of God, Southern Baptists, and Pentecostal Holiness.   Photos by Gary Burns To subscribe to Prayer Connect, click here.
