Personal Prayer
Praise God, “the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort” (2 Cor. 1:3). Give thanks for God’s comfort to you and all who truly mourn (Mt. 5:4). Confess any sin he shows you, truly mourning for the pain you have caused. Commit to receiving God’s forgiveness. Ask the Lord to search your heart and thoughts, removing any offensive way and leading you “in the way everlasting” (Ps. 139:23-24).
For Your Family and Friends
Pray for those close to you to know God’s comforting forgiveness. Ask God to effectively bring that to them through you.
For the Church
Pray that the leaders of your congregation and denomination will be persons who truthfully confront sin in themselves and in those they lead. Ask that they be clear channels of God’s forgiving comfort.
For the Kingdom
Pray that the righteousness of Christ will be evidenced to your whole community through your church’s leadership and membership. Ask God to help you keep his kingdom and righteousness your first priority.
For People to Know Jesus
Pray that the unsaved will not merely complain in the misery caused by their sins nor seek acceptance of their sins. Ask that they will be moved by God’s Spirit to truly mourn in the sorrow of repentance and thereby be open to his healing and comfort.
