Personal Prayer
Praise God as the Father of the fatherless and the defender of the helpless. Give thanks that, even in large cities, God’s eye is on the small and defenseless and alone (Jon. 4:11). Confess those times when you have not remembered by prayer or material aid those in your community who have needed your help (Mt. 25:35-40). Commit yourself to looking at others through the compassionate eyes of your Father. Ask him to pull you out of your comfort zone and into the needs of others.

For Your Family and Friends
Ask God to help you see where other family members feel helpless or alone and to allow you to bear their burdens with them (Gal. 6:2).

For the Church
Pray for your leaders, that they will model God’s compassion in reaching out to the lonely and the helpless in your community.

For the Kingdom
Ask God to bless, financially and spiritually, his churches’ programs in your area for the poor and homeless.

For People to Know Jesus
Pray that unsaved people in your community will be so moved by your church’s compassion toward strangers and outsiders that they will be drawn into God’s family.

Prayer Pointer
“No one is a firmer believer in the power of prayer than the devil; not that he practices it, but he suffers from it.” —Guy H. King
