Our school teachers need our prayer and support. Here are 9 prayers you can pray for the teachers in your community.
NOTE: If you know teachers personally, please pray for them by name.
1. Father, we are deeply grateful for our nation’s schoolteachers! Thank you for their willingness to serve the next generation and for the personal sacrifice so many make as they go above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of their students.
2. Lord, raise up more teachers who will see education as a field of ministry. Increase the supply of educators with godly, qualified individuals who have a passion for learning and for the next generation. Bring alongside them qualified volunteers, parents, and support staff who will make their job easier.
3. We know that our future teachers need tools to equip them for what they will be facing. Provide materials for them to use that are counter to the current cultural trends and can be placed in the hands of families and kids as well as in classrooms. Provide encouragement and support for teachers as they seek to teach authentic truth and godly realities in their classes.
4. Help teachers streamline their workload and prioritize what is most important. We ask you to remove bureaucratic barriers that may prevent them from teaching at their best.
5. We pray for any teacher who is exhausted from the day-today job stress and has lost vision and enthusiasm. Fulfill Your Word, that You “fully satisfy the needs of those who are weary and fully refresh the souls of those who are faint” (Jer. 31:25, NET). We ask that You refresh and encourage those teachers who may be so discouraged that they are on the verge of leaving.
6. We pray that good teachers would receive Your strength to remain steadfast, that they would see their profession as a God-given calling, and faithfully remain at their posts.
7. We bless our teachers, in the name of the Lord, and ask for health, safety, and Your abundant blessing on them and their families—and most of all, that they would know and serve You.
8. Holy Spirit, You are the ultimate Teacher, and we invite You into our classrooms and online learning experiences to lead students and teachers alike “into all truth” (see John 16:13). We lift up to You those teachers whose hearts and minds are not aligned with Your truth, and who are actively engaged in turning their students away from You and from godly principles. We pray that these teachers would come to a knowledge of the truth and experience salvation in Jesus Christ.
9. We pray our teachers will know they are loved, appreciated, and essential to the health and well-being of our children and youth. Let them know how much they are valued as they leave a positive impact on our world.
