Worshiping by the Spirit

For [it is] we . . . who worship by the Spirit of God [who] glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:3 (esv)

Heavenly Father, it is written that the kind of worshipers You are seeking are those who worship in spirit and in truth. And so this day I come before You, asking for myself and for my church community, that by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, we might truly worship You with all of our hearts.

Keep us, I pray, from coming before You with only right words. Holy Spirit, awaken our hearts once again that the words of our mouths and the depths of our hearts might become one and the same, and be a pleasing sacrifice of truthful worship. May we worship You, Father, for Who You truly are.

Today Lord, I join with Your angels and all Your heavenly hosts and I worship You. I proclaim:

“Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come! You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power. For You created all things and by Your will they were created and have their being. To You who sits on the throne and to the Lambbe praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever!”

May these worship songs of heaven become the songs of my heart and those of my brothers and sisters in Christ! Open our eyes to the greatness of Your glory. May we be awestruck once again in Your presence. Change us as we worship You. (Pause and meditate on the greatness, glory, and holiness of our God.)

Renew us that we might become passionate worshipers, with Spirit-sponsored praise, exalting the Lord Jesus Christ. (Renew my heart, O Lord!). May the Holy Spirit be present in power as we gather as a faith community. May He minister in freedom among us, and may our hearts be wide open to His work. May we worship in such a way that the soil of our hearts is prepared to receive the seed of the Word, and the lordship of Jesus is more firmly established in us. (Pause and pray for your pastor(s) and worship leaders, that they will experience a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit as they lead His people into His presence.)

In the name of Jesus, Who is able to keep us from falling into temptation and to present us before Your glorious presence, without fault, to You, the only God our Savior, be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who was before the beginning, is now ever-present, and who will soon be here! Hallelujah and AMEN!
